Dental Implants in Georgetown, KY

Dental implants are advanced, permanent tooth replacement solutions that mimic the function and appearance of natural teeth by anchoring a titanium post into the jawbone to support a custom crown, bridge, or denture. At Georgetown Oral and Facial Surgery, Dr. Robert Henderson uses dental implants to help patients restore their smiles, improve chewing and speaking, and maintain long-term jawbone health. Implants may be ideal for those who have lost one or more teeth and are looking for a stable, durable alternative to traditional bridges or removable dentures. Dental implant placement is a multi-step procedure that begins with a comprehensive evaluation and imaging to assess bone structure and determine the optimal placement site. During the first phase, a small titanium post is surgically inserted into the jawbone under local anesthesia or sedation, where it will act as an artificial tooth root. Over the next few months, the implant undergoes a process called osseointegration, during which it fuses securely with the surrounding bone. Once healing is complete, an abutment is attached to the implant post, and a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is placed on top to restore full function and appearance. This process offers a durable, natural-looking solution for missing teeth with long-term stability and comfort.

Following the procedure, it's common for patients to experience mild inflammation around the implant site. Any post-procedure discomfort can be managed with cool compresses and either over-the-counter or prescription pain medication. Once the implant has fused with the jawbone and the custom crown, denture, or bridge is in place, maintaining a diligent oral hygiene routine is crucial. This includes proper brushing and flossing techniques. Be sure to attend regular dental cleanings and examinations to check the condition of your restorations and ensure their long-term health.

Dental implants are generally selected for the significant range of benefits they offer. As effective restorations, fixed implants:

  • Do not rely on surrounding teeth for stability
  • Enable the intake of a healthy diet
  • Function as a long-lasting tooth replacement option
  • Can strengthen your self-confidence when having conversations and any time your teeth show
  • Provide greater biting strength and lifespan of crowns, bridges, or dentures
  • Are similar to natural teeth in function and look
  • Merge with the jawbone to help keep up jawbone health and stability

Dr. Henderson and his staff are GREAT. My husband went through a year long process with them that included extractions resulting from an abscess with bone grafts, skin grafts and implants. They were always professional, friendly and concerned about a good outcome. We couldn’t have found better care anywhere!

These folks were God sent!! I have been told for over 25 years that I could not have upper dental implants due to bone loss and other factors. So after being told this , I just gave up after 2 partials that didn’t fit the best … Then back last July I was told I needed to get 2 implants for my lower teeth and went to see Dr Henderson after being recommended by a friend. My bite was horrible and I self conscious of my smile due to missing back teeth….After a consultation Dr Henderson informed me I was able to get my upper teeth as well as my bottoms!! No problems at all with my extractions or my placements. No bruising and no pain, just a all around great experience that has given me a reason to Smile BIG
